WIRM was designed as a simple to use task tray application providing the basic feature set of quickres and the Display Properties control panel applet. It also features advanced features not found in any standard windows controls or tweekUI.

Right clicking brings down the main menu with a single click from there you can select any resolution that your monitor/display adapter can support, bring up the windows display properties dialogue or access the two advanced features:

1. Cloak Desktop Icons: removes all of your icons from the desktop for a clean fresh look. This can be achieved with the active desktop in some versions of windows but at a large deficit to performance WIRM dose not have this performance hit.

2. Transparent Icon Text Background: Makes the apron of colour behind Icon captions transparent to provide a less obtrusive desktop.

Using the simple wallpaper manager you can use gif and jpeg images as well as bmps without the degradation in performance and stability that active desktop brings you also get a history of the last five wallpapers that you have used through WIRM.
